Check whether the intended installation is allowed
Measure the width, depth and height of the location and read the exact model’s installation requirements. Choose the interior layout around your normal food

Test a shelf arrangement before ordering
Suppose two meal containers are each eight inches wide. They need at least 16 inches side by side before allowing for handles or room to remove them. A 15-inch shelf cannot hold that arrangement. Stacking may be possible only if the height and the way you store the food make it practical. These are example dimensions, not a specification for a current Walmart model.
Try a paper outline of the shelf with your containers placed on it. Add the tallest bottle and whatever normally occupies the door bins. This makes the tradeoff between shelf area and bottle storage concrete. A fridge with slightly less advertised capacity can work better for your load if it has the right shape and adjustment range.
Read the freezer description separately
An all-refrigerator design, a small internal compartment and a separate freezer section are different formats. Check the manufacturer’s stated use, controls and storage capability for the exact model. Do not infer long-term frozen-food suitability solely from a snowflake symbol or a compartment shown behind a flap.
Decide how much of the purchase is for refrigerated meals and how much is for frozen items. A freezer section occupies space that cannot hold the same refrigerator load. If frozen storage is essential, make it a documented requirement; if it is not, assess whether the extra refrigerator space is more useful. Follow the product instructions rather than using a generic temperature assumption for every design.
Allow room for the door and routine cleaning
Check the direction and extent of door movement, including whether shelves or drawers can be removed in that position. A fridge can open enough to grab a drink while still being too constrained for cleaning. If a reversible door solves the layout, read how the exact model is reversed and whether the needed hardware is included.
For a sleeping or study area, look for model-specific noise information rather than treating “quiet” as a measured comparison. Use the exact energy label for operating-cost planning when provided. Different test conditions can make unsupported noise comparisons misleading, and a generic efficiency badge cannot supply the annual electricity use of a particular model.
Compare the Walmart offer and the trip into the room
Record the exact model, refrigerator/freezer layout, dimensions, required clearances, seller, condition and accessories. Check the selected option again after choosing a color or capacity. The product you add to the cart must be the one whose layout and manual you compared.
A hypothetical $140 fridge with a $25 delivery charge costs $165 before tax. A $160 pickup offer is cheaper only if collecting it is practical. Account for vehicle space, the product’s transport instructions and any help needed for lifting or stairs. A delivery to the building entrance does not necessarily include carrying the appliance into an upstairs room.
Plan setup time before putting food inside
Measure doorways and turns along the route, and establish where the carrier will leave the package. Inspect the appliance and model label on arrival, then follow the manufacturer’s instructions for moving, positioning and starting it. Do not apply a universal waiting period after transport; use the instructions for the model and its handling circumstances.
Allow the unit to reach the instructed operating condition before relying on it for perishable food. Keep the purchase record and packaging while checking that the door, shelves and controls match the order. If the received layout or condition is different, describe the exact issue through the order’s help route while the return remains practical.

Will a 3.2-cubic-foot fridge hold more meal containers than a smaller one?
Not necessarily in the arrangement you need. Compare usable shelf dimensions, freezer space and container fit rather than the exterior capacity figure alone.
Can a freestanding mini fridge go under a tight counter?
