Recover the purchase record

Find a Walmart receipt—even when the paper copy is gone

A receipt lookup is useful for more than returns. You may need an itemized record for an expense claim, a protection-plan claim, or a charge you cannot place. First separate a store transaction from an online order: they have different routes to the receipt.

THE USEFUL PART FIRST

For a store purchase, check Purchase History, then use Walmart's receipt lookup with the store, purchase date, total, card type and last four digits. For pickup, delivery or shipping, open the order in Purchase History and use its receipt or print option.

Start with the transaction you actually made

Sign into the account used for the purchase and look in Purchase History. A store purchase may already be there if you paid with a card saved to that account. If you still have the paper receipt, the app can scan its barcode to attach it.

For an expense claim, open the detailed receipt rather than photographing a bank statement. The statement helps identify the charge; the receipt explains what you bought. Check that quantities and the final total belong to the correct trip, particularly if you visited the same store twice.

Five details make the search useful

Follow the receipt lookup link from Walmart's official help page. Use your financial statement to verify the transaction, then enter the requested information. A guess at the total or the wrong card can produce an empty result even when the purchase is real.

FieldWhat to check
StoreCity or ZIP of the location where you paid
DateThe purchase date you are trying to recover
TotalThe complete receipt amount
CardThe card type used at checkout
Last four digitsThe relevant card, not another saved payment method

An empty search is a reason to investigate

Recheck the store and amount before repeating the search. If you used something other than a debit or credit card, Walmart directs shoppers to its help chat. Explain which payment method you used and what purchase details you still have.

For online orders, the printable record is in the order's details on Walmart.com. Save a copy with a useful filename such as the date and expense category. A recovered receipt proves the transaction; it does not extend a return deadline or change the coverage of a protection plan.
