THE USEFUL PART FIRST
Use Check a price in the official Walmart app and scan the product barcode. Confirm the selected store and exact item. If the result, shelf label and register disagree, ask an associate to verify the product and applicable price before paying.
Get an identifiable result first
Start from Walmart's own app download page rather than choosing an app solely because its name includes Walmart or barcode scanner. In Store Mode, location sharing helps the app identify the store you are visiting. Check that the store shown is the one around you.
Open Check a price and scan the product's barcode. Match the result to the package: brand, size, count, color or model where relevant. If the camera struggles, improve the lighting and flatten a wrinkled label. When a code is damaged or the result is wrong, ask an associate to identify the item.
Compare like with like before calling it a mismatch
Walmart's terms explain that online and store prices can differ. Read the result's seller and fulfillment information, particularly if you moved from a local scan into a general online listing. An online shipping offer is not automatically the checkout price for the item in your cart.

Ask for a check while you can still choose
Keep the item and note the shelf location so an associate can check the relevant label. Explain the difference plainly: which product, which two amounts and where each appeared. A screenshot can help preserve the context, but it does not by itself establish entitlement to a particular price.
At checkout, review the item before completing payment if the discrepancy matters to your decision. For a completed purchase, keep the receipt and use Walmart's customer-service route. Do not buy on the assumption that a later adjustment is guaranteed.
The scanner is a product-information tool, not our own inventory feed. A result appearing in an app is not proof that a particular quantity remains on the shelf.

Is a separate third-party scanner app required?
No. Walmart provides Check a price in its own app.
Does scanning a product pay for it?
No. A price lookup is separate from checkout. Complete the applicable payment flow and obtain a receipt.
