THE USEFUL PART FIRST
Walmart's oil-change page lists packages from $28.88. Its menu includes up to five quarts and a new oil filter; additional oil and non-featured oil can increase the charge, and prices may vary by location. Confirm compatibility and the local total before approving service.

Build your oil-change estimate
Enter the package and extras from your quote to see how the total adds up.
Assumes the entered subtotal is taxable at the rate you choose. It excludes unentered charges and is not a booking or final store quote.
Choose the oil before comparing the price
Bring the year, make, model, engine, and the specification from the owner's manual. Two cars with the same model name can have different engines. A bargain package that does not meet the required specification is not a useful alternative.
Do not use mileage alone to pick a package. Ask the technician to explain which offered oil matches the manufacturer's requirement and put that choice on the service order. This also makes a later comparison with another shop meaningful: both quotes should cover the same oil, amount, and filter.
Turn the headline price into a usable estimate
Our planner helps organize a base price and any quoted extras. It cannot determine your oil specification, predict the exact charge for an additional quart, or see a local service queue. Enter extra charges only when the center has provided them.
Before authorizing work, ask for the final estimate including tax and any location-specific charges. If the center recommends an additional service, ask what it does and what it costs. Keep optional work separate from the oil-change package so you can approve it deliberately.
- Confirm the required oil and filter for the exact engine.
- Ask how much oil is included and how much your vehicle needs.
- Request the complete estimate before work begins.
- Agree how staff should contact you if the estimate changes.
Plan the visit around the service appointment
Select an Auto Care Center rather than assuming every Walmart handles oil changes. Check that department's hours and the available appointment options. Leave a working phone number and wait for the completion notice before planning to drive away.
Save the invoice with the date, odometer reading, oil details, and work performed. Set your next maintenance reminder using your vehicle's maintenance schedule; a generic interval printed on an unrelated website may not match your car.
Questions that come up
Is $28.88 the final price for every car?
No. It is the published starting package price. Oil requirements, additional quantity, selected products, local pricing, and applicable taxes can change the total.
Do I need an appointment?
Check the appointment options and current capacity at your selected Auto Care Center. Do not assume that a walk-in can be completed within your shopping trip.
