Which package is better value?
Compare the same kind of product in different package sizes. We’ll convert compatible units for you.
Use total package amounts, including all units in a multipack. Compare like-for-like products; price per unit does not measure quality. Fluid units are US units.
Start with equal units
Suppose one hypothetical product costs $6 for 12 ounces and another costs $9 for 24 ounces. The first costs $0.50 per ounce; the second costs $0.375 per ounce. These are examples for the calculation, not advertised offers.
Do not compare a price per pound directly with a price per ounce. Convert to the same unit first. For multipacks, work out the total amount, then divide the price by that total.

Compare equivalent products
A lower unit price does not erase a meaningful difference in ingredients, concentration, condition, or performance. Compare products that can do the same job for you. For electronics, match exact model numbers rather than using a quantity calculation.
For a bulk purchase, estimate how much will be used. Paying less per ounce while discarding a large portion may increase the cost of what you actually consume.
Finish with the complete trip
Add any shipping, delivery, or other relevant charges before deciding between sellers or stores. If splitting the basket creates a second trip or a new order fee, include that in the comparison.
Walmart's price-match policy has restrictions and does not promise to match competitor prices. Use a comparison to choose where and how to buy, not as an assumption that the checkout will honor another retailer's number.
Questions that come up
Does this prove Walmart is always cheaper than Target or Costco?
No. It compares the actual prices and quantities you enter for a specific purchase. A few products cannot establish a universal cheapest retailer.
Can I compare different pack sizes?
Yes, when the products are comparable and the quantities use the same unit.
