Compare a job offer with the hours it actually includes

A national Walmart pay figure is not the wage offer for every position. Read the compensation information in the specific posting and ask about the hours, shift differentials and role classification that apply. A higher hourly number can still produce a different weekly total if the schedule has fewer hours.

As an arithmetic example, 20 hours at $18 totals $360 before tax, while 30 hours at $16 totals $480. These numbers are not Walmart wage quotes. They show why comparing only the hourly figure misses part of the decision. Add the travel time and transport cost you would actually incur for each location.

Choose neighboring locations deliberately

Two openings in the same city can be at different stores or a distribution center outside the usual shopping area. Save the exact address and role reference when applying. If your transport only runs during certain hours, check the earliest start and latest finish you can reliably reach before offering open availability.
